Dr. Holden is an Expert in Forehead (Brow) Lift in Scottsdale

Many times, patients concerned about the appearance of their upper eyelids may be unaware of the contribution of the forehead and brows.  The brows can be reshaped and even penciled to resemble a better position, so the contribution they give to the aged appearance the upper face can be missed.

Ideally, the brows should be positioned at or above the ridge of bone above the eye and should have a gradual arc that peaks approximately above the outer edge of the upper eyelid.  This should be assessed with both the eyes open and closed, and should be photographed so that patients can see their brow position with the eyes closed.

When the brows begin to affect the upper eyelids, patients will develop a habit of raising their brows when looking in the mirror or even just at rest to help their vision.  This can result in deepened lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows themselves.

    Endoscopic Forehead Lift

The forehead and brows can be rejuvenated with an outpatient, endoscopic procedure.  The use of an endoscope makes the procedure safer and allows incisions to be hidden in the hair.  Dr. Holden does not use screws or any other foreign metal devices to secure the forehead once it is lifted, but his technique gives real, lasting results.

During the procedure, the muscles that cause deep forehead lines and those between the eyebrows are carefully reduced in order to decrease the ability to form new lines.  Of course, you will still have facial expression, but the effect will be a softer, more relaxed look.

The procedure takes approximately 1-2 hours and is usually performed under general anesthesia.

The recovery involves avoidance of heavy lifting or exercise for a week.  At that point, you will be ready to resume your regular activity.  The incisions in the hair heal very quickly and after a few months are completely invisible in most cases.

    Pretricheal Forehead Lift

Patients who desire improvement of their brow position but have a high forehead can still have a forehead lift!  The pretricheal procedure allows the forehead to be lifted without further raising the hairline.  This employs an incision that follows the hairline and allows hair to grow through the incision after healing.

This procedure also involves the use of endoscopes, and does not involve the use of screws or other permanent foreign material.  The forehead and brow muscles are reduced (as with the endoscopic forehead lift) to soften some of the lines that form from their movement.

The final results give a natural rejuvenation to the forehead and brow with invisible incisions and without changing the position of the hairline.
